Recovery Resources’ Bronze Key Gala – Uncovering Recovery

November 19, 2013 (Cleveland, OH) On Thursday, November 14, 2013, Recovery Resources hosted its 24th Annual Bronze Key Gala at Embassy Suites Hotel in Independence, Ohio in an effort to raise awareness and support so that people can triumph over mental illness, alcoholism, drug and other addictions. Proceeds from the event support our vision of a community where all people have access to a broad array of health care services that is convenient, collaborative, and effective.

This year’s Bronze Key Award recipient, WKYC-Channel 3 News Cleveland, has made a significant impact on our community with its outstanding efforts to educate and inform a broad audience about mental illness and addiction. Showcasing both the challenges our community faces with the heroine epidemic and the amazing people who are winning against these battles, WKYC has become a true partner in our efforts to Uncover Recovery. Monica Robins accepted the award on behalf of WKYC, and underscored the importance of both recognizing the stunning prevalence of opiate addiction throughout all facets of our community, and ensuring that immediate access to services is available for those living with this addiction.

The event also featured a moving and passionate testimonial by Rob, Carla, Nolan, and Jaclyn Brandt, of Robby’s Voice, a community-based organization committed to promoting awareness and education on issues surrounding drug addiction. The Brandt family, with incredible courage, has chosen to use their loss as a catalyst for change and community-mobilization around this devastating public health issue.  As noted by Debbie Rodriguez, President and CEO of Recovery Resources, after the Brandt family spoke, “It is simply impossible to listen to this impassioned and articulate family and think, ‘Not my family; not my problem’”.

The Bronze Key Award is a national recognition by the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD). In Northeast Ohio, the award is presented annually by Recovery Resources, the local affiliate of NCADD. The award is given to an individual or organization that has made an outstanding contribution to the field of substance abuse treatment and prevention, and it is the highest honor given by NCADD.
