Anger Management

Minimize

The purpose of our Anger Management Education Program is to provide anger and conflict resolution tools to adults who are experiencing difficulty managing anger and stress effectively. The overall goal of the program is to increase participant skills for coping with stress and anger without using alcohol, tobacco, or other drugs, and prevent future drug use in stressful situations.

The Anger Management Curriculum is a five-module program developed by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, and has been adapted for use in prevention and treatment settings and with both youth and adults. At Recovery Resources, we supplement this curriculum with hands-on learning through case studies, role-playing and activities that are designed to engage participants in learning in a variety of different ways.

The topics covered are:
           1. Defining anger and its physical, behavioral, and emotional effects
           2. Identifying personal triggers and developing an anger control plan
           3. Recognizing the difference began aggression and assertiveness
           4. Developing conflict resolution skills in order to intervene when anger brews, and to cope with stress
               appropriately
           5. Putting conflict resolution skills into action using practical exercises

Please Note:
  • In order to minimize the need for waiting lists, we keep our classes open until they reach 15 participants.
  • Participants who have charges pending for felonious assault or domestic violence or those who are in need of assessment, treatment or counseling are not appropriate for this program.
  • Classes cost $60 for each 5-week session.
