Peter Bell, an early advocate for addressing the special needs of African Americans within addiction treatment in the Unites States, cofounded and, for fifteen years, served as executive director of the Institute on Black Chemical Abuse. He is the author of Chemical Dependency and the African American, The Black Alcoholic: Growing Up Black and Proud (A Substance Abuse Prevention Curriculum for African Americans) and Cultural Pain and African Americans.
