Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a goal-oriented, client-centered counseling style for eliciting behavior change by helping clients to explore and resolve ambivalence.  Learn definition, history and rationale for MI, the elements and processes of MI, and tools to begin implementing MI.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will learn the core elements and techniques of MI
  • Participants will learn skills to recognize, respond to and elicit change talk
  • Participants will learn helpful adaptations of MI strategies when working with clients with cognitive impairments
