Support Recovery Resources Board Member Bob Laughton in Goggin's Challenge

The weekend of June 12, 2021, Recovery Resources Board Member Bob Laughton, along with his friend Bret Buike, will run 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours, totaling 48 miles in two days. Bob is running in memory of his friends lost to substance use and in support of Recovery Resources mission - helping people triumph over mental illness, alcoholism, drug and other addictions.

"I'm running the first 12 miles in honor of my three close friends I lost Vinny, Dave, and Elvis. The following 36 miles are for you." - Bob

Run Co-Chairs Tera Coleman and Dan Mayer give the details about the 9th Annual Run for Recovery:

The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted just about every aspect of ordinary life - it's taken a toll on our mental health, and for some, relapse from addiction. As the COVID clouds begin to part, we invite you to support your employees' health and in turn help those in our community by forming a team. Corporate teams will compete to win prizes for fitness points and funds raised beginning June 1st in preparation to run or walk. Register your company today!

You don’t have to be on a team to participate in the Run for Recovery! Register as an individual for the 5K race or, if running just isn’t your thing, sign up for the One Mile Wellness Walk. You can also participate by helping with fundraising efforts. Give a gift to our cause or ask your family and friends to support through a social media campaign or community event. The sky’s the limit!

Pick a team name + decide on a fundraising goal! There is no maximum number of people you can include on your team, so invite anyone and everyone to participate. For teams who may have some participants wanting to race in person and others who would prefer to run socially distanced – that’s okay! Join wherever you are comfortable.

Treatment: Whether clients need treatment for the early stages of substance use or have been dependent on drugs and/or alcohol for a long time, Recovery Resources offers a variety of outpatient services, including Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Addiction Treatment Programs, lasting eight weeks. Money raised from the Run for Recovery allows these programs to continue and gets those who need care into treatment.
Basic Necessities: Recovery Resources provides clothing, toiletries and other basic necessities for our clients who can not afford them. We also provide uniforms for jobs and trainings to get clients into competitive employment. It's through money raised during the Run for Recovery that makes this possible.
Transportation: According to Recovery Resources clients, transportation to get to their treatment is the number one obstacle they face. In our annual fund, $76,000 goes toward RTA bus passes and other transportation options. These funds heavily come from Run for Recovery fundraising dollars.
