Training: Clinical Considerations for Serving the LGBTQ Community

Helping professionals have an ethical obligation to build competency in working with various populations. This presentation will help professionals gain a better understanding of the LGBTQ culture, specific issues this population faces, and ways to create a therapeutic safe space for clients.

Learning Objectives:
  • Participants will clarify terms commonly used in LGBTQ culture
  • Participants will assess and increase awareness of personal attitudes
  • Participants will increase knowledge of LGBTQ culture, special issues and intervention strategies
